222 Corridor Connections - Transportation Study Overview

Agricultural lands interspersed with residential and commercial developments dominate the project corridor. Pockets of development have occurred primarily around the main intersecting roadways of Route 73, Route 662 and Topton Road/Long Lane. The corridor also includes several villages fronting on Route 222 including Maiden Creek, Kirbyville, Moselem Springs, Kempville, and Maxatawny.

Engineering analysis focused on

travel patterns
intersection geometry
sight distance
uncontrolled driveway access points
school bus/school zone safety
intersection capacity and channelization, and
roadside hazards

Environmental efforts have assessed the general impacts on the area's

wildlife habitat
agricultural land
water resources
residential and commercial development
National Register eligible and potentially eligible historic resources and structures
potential hazardous waste and underground storage tank issues , and
other socio-economic issues.

The public has been and will continue to be a major participant in the Study, and in the continued development of transportation needs and solutions for this corridor.
